Writing Walker’s Path Chapter 13

Hello out there,

My name is Katherine Phillips and I’m the writer of the Walker’s Path web serial. This is my take on the latest release of Walker’s Path. It will be laden with spoilers so make sure to check out the new chapter before reading this!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. Chapter 13 is named Reflections. Mainly because there are two trips to the bathroom in this one. To be honest I’m getting a bit tired of writing bathroom scenes but it turns out you actually spend a good amount of time in them as a girl.

One of the first things that I mention in this one is Walker’s sore chest. If you’ve never gone through puberty as a girl then you probably don’t know this happens. It’s nothing like being hit in the testicles but it still hurts pretty bad. Even though the other girls know how bad it hurts they want Walker to stop touching himself there. Which is understandable since it’s seen as a lude act.

I’ve been trying to do my best at making this a realistic story so things like the chest rubbing will happen. I am trying to make it as good natured as possible while also staying true to life. The last thing I want is for this story to be considered Erotica.

That being said, as a teenager emotions burn hot so we will be getting some thoughts from Walker that are lustful in nature.

Back to this Chapter. Walker talks to Joy’s parents about his damaged lungs and lies about having social anxiety. While the ladder is untrue for him, he does actually suffer from a form of anxiety. That is of course driven by what he is wearing.

I also introduced the “picky eater” trope into the story. As a person living in a house with five (used to be six) kids this trope isn’t a trope at all it’s more true to life than anything else. Every kid has their likes and dislikes. The funny thing is that friends can actually change these. Peoples decisions can be heavily influenced by social interaction and especially at a young age.

As an example of this Walker is peer pressured into agreeing to go to the mall with the girls. My frame of mind here is that Walker doesn’t want to be the “party pooper.” He see’s how much they want to go so he crumbles.

I need to talk about chapter 14 for a moment. I’m about seven pages in and something very serious happens. I’ll just say its something bad and that it’ll influence all of the other chapters going forward. I’m not going to say its the last bad thing that Walker’s going to experience but it will be the last for the foreseeable future. It’s an important issue to cover (especially since it’s happened to me). Walker’s been through too much too soon and I really want him to enjoy himself in the chapters going forward.

Walker’s also had a taste of a girls point of view and he is understanding things that he probably didn’t care about before. He obviously doesn’t want to know these things I found it interesting to add them.

He is also dealing with his attraction to Jesse by trying to be closer to Joy. It’s also a way for Walker avoid his feelings.

We also had some interaction with Heather. She even acted a bit motherly by asking Walker to fix his posture. Mothers can be this way and you should expect more interaction with her in the next chapter.

My mindset in this chapter was to give Walker an experience into femininity. There was some tension but it wasn’t a major focal point for the story.

Spoiler, next Chapter Joy floats the idea of Walker doing this again and I’ll let you ponder his reaction.

I think that’s enough for now. As always if you have any questions or comments please leave a message on this post or if you want to ask something a bit more private go through the contact section.

Last but not least remember to star the chapters you like in WattPad otherwise the story doesn’t get exposure.

I hope your weekend goes really well!
