Writing Walker’s Path Chapter 11

Hello out there,

My name is Katherine Phillips and I’m the writer of the Walker’s Path web serial. This is my take on the latest release of Walker’s Path. It will be laden with spoilers so make sure to check out the latest chapter before reading this!

I have to admit this one took me a while. Normally, I can sit back and let the story come to me but for some reason it wasn’t working that way for this one. Over the course of almost 2 months I let it come when it came.

Chapter 11 is all about Walker’s past and giving him a backbone even if it’s a small one. (AKA the music he likes.)

We learn a lot about Walker’s Father that died trying to save their cat in the fire. He was a breadwinner that made a good amount of money and he spent a lot of time with his family.

When Walker had that taken away on top of the lead singer of his favorite band killing himself… It was a major tipping point in his life.

I plan on exploring the night of the fire in a dream or something like that. Perhaps I’ll make another Intermission 10 or so chapters down the line.

As for the ride itself. I absolutely love the shock on the girls faces as they realize that Walker is indeed a fan of Rock. I think they are getting so used to Walker looking like a girl that they didn’t expect it from him. They especially didn’t see “The Real World” comment coming. I think my favorite part is the Facepalm that Walker gives when he finds out that Lacy and the other girls think that “The Real World” is “real”.

I went through something similar thinking that “Wrestling” was real. Parts of it are very real especially the physicality but the stories are obviously scripted and I didn’t see that growing up. It’s so funny how ignorant we are when we are young.

Walker and Joy are getting a bit more handsy which is progress for their relationship. I’m going to keep the story PG13 because I think it would be inappropriate otherwise. You can expect the story to advance in a way that makes the two of them closer over time.

Like all relationships there are going to be some bumps in the road. In the very beginning of Chapter 12 we’ll see a bump starting to form. I don’t want to give anything away but to be as vague as possible Walker questions his attraction to girls.

Joy’s parents have obviously spoiled her and Walker is very much jealous or maybe even envious of it.

Going from upper middle class to lower middle class has been a hard road for Walker and its something he doesn’t discuss with anyone.

As for the future of the story. I’m really looking forward to introducing new characters into Walker’s life. Sometimes I feel the story is a bit too stagnant so I might speed things up a bit going forward. You can expect Walker to be “Stuck” for most of the day as Kennedi. I thought about making him stay a second night with the girls but I think that’s a bit too much.

I hope you like what you’ve been reading so far! This story is very near and dear to my heart so expect more in the future.

Lots of love,
Katherine
