Hello out there,
I recently moved rooms, as I was going through my things, and found a story that I wrote when I was a teenager.
It’s a coming of age story about a young kid and his friend. I recently started transferring the story over to a google doc. I found it really interesting.
When I was young I showed this paper to my mother but she never liked reading. She ended up criticizing the story. I only wanted to hear positive things about my work and because of the criticism I stopped writing. It was a childish thing to do but I was a child so go figure.
I wanted to show you a little bit of the story. I’ve only done formatting and didn’t fix any of the other errors.
Enjoy!
Sleep came long and hard that night. When Lance woke up his eyes were aching from the restless night. They felt like bricks.
The first thing that he saw was a great mountain. He thought he was going crazy because he was seeing it from above. *What the, what’s that?* He thought.
A big dragon in which he only heard about in legends was carrying him. The dragon flew down to the mountain but it didn’t stop, it kept going and going. It was supposed to move but Lance didn’t know how to turn it. Going faster and faster the dragon flew towards the mountain.
It didn’t stop Lance tried and tried to stop the dragon it didn’t stop. Suddenly he thought *Stop! Stop!* The dragon stopped in mid flight. It just sat there flapping its wings. They were about 30 feet from the ground.
Lance said “Go down to the ground.”
It didn’t move.
He didn’t get why it wouldn’t go down. *I’ll just jump down.* Lance thought.
Suddenly the dragon started flying down to the ground. Lance didn’t even notice it land. Besides the ground coming closer.
Lance tried to get down off the dragon when they were on the ground but he couldn’t move. When he looked at his legs he got scared, there was nothing holding him on the dragon but he couldn’t move.
With a big roaring voice the dragon spoke. “Please master, don’t jump down.”
Lance was surprised and confused at the same time. The big gray mass of a dragon was just sitting there with him on his back. His long neck stretched toward him. He could remember the stories told. Dragons could listen to your thoughts. Dragons could eat you in one gulp. It was even said that dragons could breathe fire, ice, and even acid.
He started to put things together and thought, *Those things can breath fire and it’s bringing its head around to me.*
The voice of the dragon came as a thunderous boom, “I will not harm you.”
“I thought all dragons didn’t like us humans.” Lance said.
The dragon didn’t say anything.Lance paused and thought a minute. *He’s lying, he going to eat me.*
Another thought fogin to him came. *I will not harm you. I can both speak in your tongue and your thoughts but I cannot hear your words. I can only speak them.*
Lance thinks, *Will you let me down?*
The dragon replies If you get off my back I will not see you for another year.
Lance thinks, *Okay this is farewell then for a time.*
*Yes goodbye.* came a reply.
Lance steps down or rather jumps off the dragon.
Lance jerks up out of his bed sweating. He wipes off the sweat and sits up in the morning sun. *That was some dream.* he thought.
There’s a ton of mistakes in this but I think it’s really awesome to see how far I’ve come. It’s interesting to see something I wrote while I was so young. Until 2016 it was the biggest story I’d ever written.
When I’m done transferring it over I’ll make it available for anyone to check out. I may even polish it up some.
Anyways, thank you for dropping by again!
Katherine
