Writing Walker’s Path Intermission One

Hello out there,

I’m Katherine Phillips and I’m the writer of the Walker’s Path web serial. This is my take on the latest release of Walker’s Path. It will be laden with spoilers so make sure to check out the latest chapter!

This part of the story has been floating around in my head since the inception of the first Outkasts chapter. (If you don’t know about Outkasts it’s a separate story I split off about Walker’s best friend.)

I pretty much had the exact scene in mind. Victor (Vic) finding out that Walker was dressed as a girl.

When I first pictured the scene I envisioned the car belonging to Victor. It would have given Walker more mobility but I wanted Walker and Victor be suck in the same boat.

The good news is that Walker is sixteen and in the future we’ll definitely have some scenes where he’s working on his driving permit.

I didn’t plan for Victor to be Mexican. I didn’t have much of a plan at all for him actually. Now that I’ve given him and his family some background I feel I can write more of Outkasts.

Naturally the big reveal of Victor knowing about Walker and that Walker didn’t make it out of the house in time opens up the story.

This is going to give me the freedom to test out how Walker reacts to external stimuli as a girl.

In the future we can expect to see more bike rides. Possibly a “Rad” mention. (A popular 80’s movie about riding bikes.)

I did throw in there that Joy and her friends weren’t known to be the prettiest girls in school. Even Victor notices. Walker on the other hand doesn’t pay attention to girls like the other guys do.

It’s not that he doesn’t like girls, he obviously does, he’s just too focused on hiding and not getting ambushed by the seniors.

I’m really looking forward to the future of this project. I think it has the potential to do some good in the world. I’ve already had some amazing feedback from an Intersex person.

To close this out I wanted people to know that if you have any questions feel free to ask them and I’ll try and answer them either in the comments or I’ll pin it and answer it on the next “Writing Walker’s Path”.

Thank you all so much for reading my story,
Katherine
